Big Sky Country is a Danish alternative folk rock band, centered around singer, songwriter and producer Philip Skovgaard. “It should be unnecessary to even mention, but we are actually not playing country music at all”, Philip Skovgaard states. He is the singer, songwriter and producer of Big Sky Country. Formed in Denmark in 2009, Big Sky Country describes their music as a cross between folk and alternative rock – never nearing the country genre. “Although we are from Denmark, we are named after the state of Montana – known for its lakes, mountains and vistas. The name resonates in us and our music. Our songs tend to evolve and grow – in sound and on the listener – ever-changing like landscapes”, he concludes. After two years of intense work with their debut album «<a href="spotify:album:63xtyo4nNNfrkZPuwKa7dW" data-name="The Handshake">The Handshake</a>», a new approach was needed. Big Sky Country underwent a transformation – in members as in sound. Their follow-up album «<a href="spotify:album:5faXF691TmPsJq2LNyB6AV" data-name="Movements">Movements</a>» was released in December 2015 to great critical acclaim. «Movements» went on to spent two weeks on the top of the Danish Vinyl Chart – something that no other original Danish indie band and label has done before or since. Big Sky Country’s third and latest album «<a href="spotify:album:72PPLjxWvAcEbMMmuHPhNv" data-name="Autumn of Love">Autumn of Love</a>» was released on the 12th of November 2021.
