Their music is defined by a melancholy mix of destructive, sound-wall tones, paired with rhythmic resounding soundscapes and distant vocals. Their debut album, Come Here, You Devilish Thing follows the first hand perspectives of Adam and Eve, during and after the fall into sin. It deals with ideas of religious trauma, regret, despair, and adjusting to an imperfect world. It’s the idea that experiencing something as normal as stubbing your toe for the first time must have been excruciating, both physically and mentally. They were absolutely foreign to the dismal reality that they were so quickly thrown into. Think of how the first cut would’ve felt. The first child. The first day working under the heat of the sun. Now add to that the sorrow felt looking back on their perfect bodies, untouched by death and all that comes before it. The music throughout the album is meant to convey the same emotions Adam and Eve would’ve felt. It is the balance of human optimism and spiritual and metaphysical despair. It’s funny that for the first people to ever exist, Adam and Eve are not often portrayed as humbly human.
