Barefoot Modern’s journey began in 2010 when Robert Beverly (guitarist/keyboardist) moved into Tegan Dean’s (lead vocalist) neighborhood. The two began by playing simple piano covers and later started writing original music in 2014 - the same year they met Hunter Evans (bassist). Barefoot Modern’s first single was released in 2017 during their senior year high school. In college, the band moved to the Appalachian Mountains. Robert and Hunter studied Recording & Production at App State - where they met Cameron Price (lead guitarist) - while Tegan studied Elementary Education and earned a soccer scholarship at Lees-McRae College. The band recorded their following 2 albums, EP, and singles at App State’s own RFG Studios (mostly as school projects). After college, the band moved back down the mountain and dispersed across NC in the triad and the triangle areas. The band met Dan Harris (drummer) in the Greensboro music scene. Barefoot Modern is currently working on new singles at 2eleven Recording in Greensboro. What once was a simple duo has now become this 5-piece indie / alternative concoction, with each member bringing their own influences to the mix: The Beatles, Cage the Elephant, Stevie Nicks, Miranda Lambert, Randy Rhodes, Elton John, Paramore and so on… You’ll just have to hear it for yourself :)
