Avalon

About

"Citing influences as far-ranging as 80s post-punk, Nintendo video games and the teachings of Zen Buddhist monk Dōgen, Avalon Lurks is the perfect illustration of a multi-faceted artist drawing from the world and not just their immediate surroundings. Hailing from Santa Ana, California, Avalon Lurks has made it a prerogative of hers, to scour her environments for any morsels that will provide creative sustenance. Whether it be forgoing the normal habits of doom scrolling on social media in favour of deep dives into the archives of internet libraries or experimenting with avant-garde Japanese fashion, Avalon stands out among her contemporaries within the Los Angeles music scene. Operating under the artist name of AVALON, her music is characterized by indie/electronic blended beats that pay homage to the work of bands such as Depeche Mode, The Cure and Kraftwerk. What sets her apart, however is a penchant for thinking outside the box and experimenting with new creative landscapes." - GATA magazine ( Tokyo, Japan )
