Anne Dorko
Berlin, Berlin, Germany
About
California-grown queer artist Anne Dorko writes and produces adventure folkpop from their studio in Germany. Anne brings a background in violin, choir, and theater to their tracks while blurring the line between theatrical musicals, folk storytelling, and accessible pop production. On their debut album, No Time to Explain, you'll find a blend of folk, pop, and soft-rock in a dramatic translation of the traditional hero's journey from the call to adventure to the crossing of the threshold and the return home with the elixir, but... these heroic wins come at what cost? Anne's discography explores many personal and fantastical themes, never hesitating to dive in on epic fictional stories or unpack deeply personal issues like religious trauma and heartbreak. Sometimes both in the same song. Anne Dorko is also a songwriter and vocalist with the virtual emo-pop-punk band Boi Pls!
