Amanda Esposito’s debut album starts in a familiar place: picking up the pieces of a broken heart. Over the course of 7 songs, the pieces are slowly stowed away, and then almost forgotten about. The road winds, the sea changes, and so does she. On a Baltic backroad, she realizes the pieces have finally reassembled. Giving them a good long look, it certainly isn’t an arc that she or anyone else would have ever dreamed of. There is an undeniable honesty, both in Amanda‘s songwriting, and her delivery. On "Trek to Tallinn", there is no doubt that she actually made a long, heady journey across Estonia with heavy lungs. It was probably even more harrowing than is let on. You probably had to be there. But the free-flowing, dreamy album-closer is the next best thing. That road finally came to an end, and so did a chapter. At long last, the pieces are exactly where they belong. And it is a beautiful sight to behold.
