Alex Bloom
Los Angeles, California, United States
About
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Alex Bloom’s third album Across the Country is the culmination of everything he’s put into his music so far—the life experiences accrued, the artistic talent honed, the wealth of musical knowledge gained—and the result is a sweeping statement that’s equal parts diaristic and universally applicable. Bloom’s flavor of chamber-pop recalls multiple eras of rock and indie all at once—the ornate and lush constructions that came out of Brooklyn in the 2000s, the studio wizardry that marked classic 1970s pop and rock music, ‘90s alternative’s heart-on-sleeve lyrical directness—and it all coalesces into a sound and voice that’s distinctly his own, just as the journey that brought him to this point remains.
