About
AKITAAKITA is a seven-piece funk band that burst onto the scene with a mission to create memorable melodies and energetic beats that get crowds moving. Their unique sonic style drives them to new heights by combining seemingly simple grooves with complex lines and musical structures. The band’s dynamic sound is anchored by thunderous bass and soulful guitar, while elevated by the resonant harmonies of sax and trombone. Crooning vocals and sweet keys inject emotion and passion while the crisp, flowing beats drive the pace. The group’s vibrant sound draws inspiration from funk trailblazers Lettuce, the soul and intensity of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the genre-bending power of Earth, Wind & Fire. Their unique blend of styles creates a sound that is both familiar and fresh, delivering an explosive live experience that has earned them a dedicated following. Following Go! and After Party, AKITA’s third album, For The Night, was released in Spring 2023, along with a single and music video. As a seven-piece powerhouse, the band has become known for their layered, danceable magic that draws crowds and gets feet moving across the country. With their infectious sound, unforgettable live performances, and a new album on the horizon, AKITA is poised to continue making waves in the world of funk music.
