Akimi is a versatile artist whose lifelong exploration of diverse identities finds its voice through her compelling lyrics and captivating singing prowess, both in private introspection and on the stage. With a fervent and focused vocal delivery, she draws inspiration from the rich tapestries of Neo-soul, RnB, Jazz, and Hip-Hop, creating melodic fusions that resonate as both timeless and forward-looking. Her compositions showcase intricate harmonies entwined with dynamic leads against backdrops of immersive instrumentals, reflecting a captivating duality that evokes nostalgia while embracing a visionary perspective. This mirrors her life, where she often finds opposing elements converging to create exhilarating narratives. Akimi's musical journey began with a strong dedication to singing, which saw her participation in esteemed school choirs and singing groups. Notably, she contributed her talents to Hoos In Treble, an capella ensemble at the University of Virginia. It was during her final year that she crossed paths with producer Elie Bashkow, marking the genesis of her artistic trajectory. Immersing oneself in Akimi's music is akin to experiencing the raw intensity of her personal encounters, as she explores the tensions that inspire her songwriting.
